Chapter 1 Image PostThe image I chose for Chapter 1 is on page 11-The VW Beetle advertisement labeled "Think Small." I feel that this image is layed out in a way that is visually appealing while getting the message across in a clear manner. Placing the car in the upper left corner surrounded by a lot of negative space allows the car to seem smaller-getting the "small" message across clearly. Ironically-when I went to google to look for an ad that I could compare this
one too, I typed in negative space in advertisements-and the VW ad was the first to come up. The ad I chose to compare to it is this dyson ad. The slogan "others clog, ours doesn't" placed on a clean background gives the sense of clean. An ad for a vacuum needs to look clean-giving the sense that this vacuum is the best and will keep your floors clean.

Chapter 2 Image Post
The image I chose for Chapter 2 is on page 17-Eat Mor Chikin by Chick-fil-A advertisement. This ad sends across a funny but serious message. We know and understand that Chick-fil-A is a chicken fast food restaurant. What makes this advertisement funny is that the cow is the one painting the words across the board. By eating more chicken we eat less cows. It is a clever campaign and for some reason draws me in. The one thing that bothers me with this advertisement, is that reading it frustrates me with the spelling errors. I know it is suppose to come across as funny and illiterate, and even though it bothers me with the errors, it still draws me in. This Burger King ad is what I chose to compare it to. The ad shows a woman ready to eat the sandwich but it says It Will Blow Your Mind Away. The Girl looks scared of the seven inch sandwich coming towards her-kind of confusing the way BK layed out this ad. Im not sure how I feel about it.

Chapter 3 Image Post
The images I choose for Chapter 3 are on page 43-The Levi's Shrink-To-Fit series. The campaign confuses me a little. Shrink to fit in jeans? Is this suppose to be telling me to lose weight so that I can fit in their jeans? Or their jeans are too small to fit me? It throws me off a little bit especially with the dog being so big and the foot about to step on him. He shrunk down in size for his jeans to fit? It is a confusing message being sent across just like this advertisement I found by the train tracks. Having an ad like this near the train tracks is just asking for a lawsuit. Telling the audience to walk closer towards the tracks to get a better look at the ad-causing them to fall onto the tracks. I am not sure that this is an effective ad by any means.

Chapter 4 Image Post
The advertisement I chose for Chapter 4 is on page 51-Elf Yourself. I can honestly say that around Christmas time my siblings and I have used this program on the internet. What kid or teenager does not find this amusing. Everyone likes to see their faces either in an ad, on tv, in print, on the internet, etc. It is amusing and grabs attention. The ad I found to compare it to is this lottery ad saying scratch and win. The image being used is funny with the child. We all know how children are and the way it is portrayed is effective. However it seems to give you the message that if you play the game you will win-hopefully everyone understands that this is not true.
