For this project, I wanted to do something that I have never seen before. I chose to formulate a way to online shop and see how products look on or how the products look next to each other before making a purchase. I went with my initial idea of Akira Chicago as the brand and basically put together how the webpage would look if it were actually created.
My initial idea and intent for this project is for online shoppers to be able to upload an image of themselves (a face) and enter in their sizes so that the avatar becomes close to the same size as the shopper. Then you would be able to scroll through the website and add items you like into your Dress Yourself Bag. Once you have chosen the items you like, you can go to the Dress Yourself page on the Akira website and try on different combinations of clothes and accessories. This gives the shopper a way to view what they are buying, get an idea of what the item might look like on them, and then allow them to decide whether or not to purchase the items or not. If the shopper however decides that they like what they have created and want to make a purchase, they can go ahead and do so. To make the shopper feel good about the purchase and the Dress Yourself page, Akira will offer that if Akira Chicago likes the combination of items the shopper is buying they will have a chance to be featured on Polyvore.com to inspire other online shoppers to put pieces such as this together. Just a little incentive for the shopper to spend more money-but still look good!
My first image is basically a screen shot of what the Akira Chicago home webpage might look like. I basically recreated their page with the same layout in mind. I added the Dress Yourself part of course and the girl who is duplicated, I changed the colors of her dress, this showing the shopper that you can try on the same thing in different colors to see which fits best with you. My second image is that of the actual Dress Yourself page on the Akira website. I recreated everything and layout so that you can have an idea of how this page might look. I added descriptions, a place to add your sizes, your Dress Yourself bag, buttons to add new items, some advertisements along the side, and other options you might like at the bottom. I want the shopper to feel that their pieces are important and that way they can see how it all looks together to create ensembles.
If I would have had more time, I might have created a Polyvore.com page so that we can get an idea of what the page might look like, but I can just show you how it would look compared to all the other ideas on polyvore.com.
Overall I am happy with the outcome of this page, I still wish I could have found a better avatar looking woman to use for the Dress Yourself model, but if I ever have time to recreate this project I would put more time into that aspect.
