SAlberini chp5

I found this ad humorous because I'm a drummer and constantly find myself tapping on counter tops and restaurant tables. I think this ad appeals to any drummer, because it's a universal habit amongst musicians to constantly be thinking of music, especially as a means to avoid thinking about something else.

This ad is visually recognizable, while I've never taken drum sticks to a paper as shown in these ads, the picture immediately instilled a response in me.

The Sparrow Guitar ad above has a slightly different approach. Instead of appealing to an "addicted" musician, the ad aims to challenge the viewer to play a real instrument. It revolves around the notion that Guitar Hero is an omnipresent aspect to our culture, and mostly anyone has played the game. Moreover, it asks the viewer to question his or her own legitimacy as an artist by quoting the super famous Nirvana song, "Smells Like Teen Spirit."
